Epigenetics

Our ancestors' experiences - their traumas, their beliefs, their skills and aptitudes - show up in us at a cellular level as memory of those experiences, driving reactivity that operates at an unconscious level.  Intuitive Counseling and Energy Work can unlock those patterns and bring them into conscious awareness.

A big part of Intuitive Counseling sessions is spent identifying, learning how to work with, and clearing the influence of ancestral experiences in your field.   Just like us, our ancestors spent their entire lives accumulating stuck and imbalanced energies in their fields from difficult, stressful and traumatic experiences.  Arguably, many more than we do today, with our comparatively comfortable and predictable lives.  (They also spent their entire lives generating skills and wisdom, and it should not be forgotten while doing ancestral trauma work that their gifts are just as available to us as their deficits.)

When they died, with their stresses, damaging belief systems and traumas unprocessed and unresolved, the energy of all those experiences didn't just disappear, because energy never disappears, it just moves, transmutes and finds another vehicle for seeking resolution.

You are that vehicle.

You are the forebear that has been selected for the expression of that unresolved energy, because you are the forebear that has the capacity to finally identify and release it.

This is - partly - what brought you to this work.

Epigenetic (ancestral) energies from traumas operate a bit like invisible landmines that get strapped to us at conception.  We go through life with them on our backs, oblivious to their weight, since they've always been there and it's all we've ever known, until one day you have an experience similar in emotion, reactivity and overall flavor to the original ancestral experience that - boom! - the land mine gets triggered.  Like two quantum-entangled particles suddenly collapsing across time and realizing they're connected, and have always been connected, your ancestor's reactivity to an experience activates through your similar experience.  All of a sudden, you feel dominated by a particular emotional pattern, way of thinking or perceiving, or physical malady ... and you have no idea why.

This is the nature of epigenetic influences.  Mysterious, confusing, baseless, like an itch you don't know how to scratch. "Why is this happening??"

Releasing Epigenetic Influences

What ancestral energetic baggage mostly wants is acknowledgement.  For the unresolved energy that's been rolling downhill through the family line for generation after generation to finally get its moment in the light and be fully seen and validated as worthy of attention.  Today, we have access to a culture within which we can do this work of acknowledging and releasing.  We have the education, the language, the tools and, importantly, the cultural permission to do this work.  Resources that our ancestors simply did not have access to.  So we can provide these energies the acknowledgement that they never could.

We can get to this information through intuition, dialogue and with tools like muscle testing.  The information is often embedded in how we speak, how we describe the nature of our own patterns, how we talk about our pains and our wounds.  The voices we hear in our own inner dialogue that we usually believe is just us, just our own anxieties, are often not our voice at all, but actually one speaking from cellular memory of an experience we never had.  By actively engaging in dialogue with those voices, we can release their influence over how we perceive ourselves.

There's many ways to both honor the voices of our ancestors and also to set our own boundaries around re-experiencing them over and over.

It's exciting work to get to be a part of, and clients almost always feel an immense weight lifted after engaging in it.

At first, there is always a small level of skepticism that I tend to reserve for energetic workers. Though I am always willing to suspend disbelief, and give energy work a try, most of the time I find myself disappointed. For me, and for many others I know who have been to see Dan, there is no denying that he is the real deal. He is brilliant, and capable of tapping into some of the most beautiful and complex mysteries of life. The year that I saw Dan consistently has helped shape my relationship with myself, my inner knowledge, and my own ability to connect to some of those mysteries as well." - Analis R.
