Intuitive Counseling
Intuitive Counseling is a unique approach I've been developing since starting this work in 2013. It's a journey into the very roots – the beginning points, the origin stories – of what’s imbalancing and inhibiting you today, incorporating curiosity and non-judgement to gently peel back the layers of suppressed energies and emotions that are manifesting unproductively in your mind and field.
Intuitive Counseling uses open dialogue to explore what’s consciously available, intuition and energy work to uncover what’s unseen in the field and in the unconscious, and integrative conversation to put it all together. It unearths the held pains, tensions and reactivity from past experiences that have later manifested as what we experience as anxiety, depression, fear, physical pain and disorder, and more.
Working collaboratively and compassionately with you, my aim is to work together to make the unconscious conscious and from there map out how to relate to the previously imbalanced energy and emotion differently. Like lion trackers, we’ll together retrace the footsteps – patiently and studiously paying attention to all the helpful markers along the way – that lead you back to the beginning of your patterns, so you can understand what happened, when it happened, why it happened, and, importantly, how to choose a different journey going forward.
Methods and Inspirations
I draw inspiration from many different systems and modalities that I've found helpful over the years: Internal Family Systems, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Gottman Method, Compassionate Inquiry, to name just a few. I love the work of David Hawkins, Karla McLaren, Bessel Van Der Kolk and Gabor Mate, again just to name a few influences.
Fused in with the more structured systems are insights borne from thousands of hours in psychedelic, meditative and non-dual states that inform my perspective on this collective dream we refer to as reality, how energy dynamics affect and influence our experience of reality, and how we can work with them.
Working with Shadows
Intuitive Counseling can be challenging work. It's not for everybody. I challenge my clients - with love, care, compassion and non-judgement, always - to lean in to their shadows, rather than run from them with endlessly avoidant behaviors that tend to manifest as anxiety, depression or addictions; to take accountability for their own thoughts, patterns and behaviors, rather than exist in victim consciousness or in blame-game dynamics.
Sessions can be hard, because the material we usually end up working with - years, decades or even generations of suppressed reactivity to a trauma - can be hard to face. But sessions are usually also, believe it or not, fun, and my clients always leave a session feeling lighter, happier and more enlightened (not in a grandiose sense, just in the sense that they now hold more truth than they came in with). I believe you'll see this reflected a lot in my clients' testimonials.
My goal is to see you as few as possible, only as many times as it takes to lighten your load and get you back on to the track you're supposed to be on. This work isn't for anybody who needs to endlessly process the same thing over and over for years on end; it's for those with the courage and zeal to really get into the hard stuff and move through it. I'm here to help you do that in as quick, effective and balanced a way as possible.
The Intuitive Part of Intuitive Counseling
You might be wondering what, exactly, is the intuitive part of these sessions.
Though I'm a little bit clairvoyant (I sometimes see things), a little bit clairsentient (I feel things), and a little clairaudient (I hear things), my primary intuitive capacity is claircognizance. I know things. I don't typically get the spirit guide or the animal totem telling me what to focus on (unfortunately). Intuitive insight flows to me more as information, which I share with you and we then get to talk about.
I also have mastery of applied kinesiology (muscle testing) and utilize that as an incredibly dynamic tool for quickly getting information from your field. So whatever my claircognizance doesn't catch in real time, muscle testing does. And I love teaching people muscle testing. It's an innate human skill that anybody - with the right motivation, a clear mind and a little training - can tap into and use in day-to-day life.
Also worth mentioning is how I utilize my "ADHD" brain as an incredibly effective tool for surveying everything that's going on while you talk. Tone, eye movement, breathing, what your hands and feet are doing as you talk through challenging things, how your head adjusts or drops following a pointed question ... my neurodiverse brain automatically takes it all in, like the lion tracking markers that help me assess where the tension points are, where the hunt is leading us. And I love helping clients with ADHD brains learn how to harness them effectively and shed the stigmatism of ADHD as a "disorder". ADHD is, in fact, a superpower, when harnessed and channeled correctly.
The Intuitive Counseling portion of sessions queues up and sets the agenda for what we focus Energy Work on accomplishing.
